Sphere
in Community Campaign
Disaster Mitigation Institute's involvement
with Sphere has taken place in three levels: international, national
and local. In the review of Sphere in India, it was realised that
the campaigns 'community' centered approach should be further stressed,
pursued and developed. Therefore the second phase of the Campaign
will be called the Sphere in Community Campaign.
Sphere in Community Campaign focuses
on vulnerable communities, in both informing them about Sphere and
feeding their learning to the Sphere Project and other humanitarian
actors, both within and outside the specific framework of Sphere
Standards. The activities in Community Campaign have so far included
publications, community consultations, local trainings and national
trainings. Several parties are involved in the Sphere in Community
Campaign - NGOs, CBOs, community volunteers and humanitarian practinioners
in Gujarat and more broadly in India.
