Key Recommendations

1.

In ensuring the effectiveness of the Sphere Standard revision process it is imperative to include non-camp items and rapidly changing drought and seasonal conditions.

2.

Supply Chain Management can enhance food aid with food security in India.

3.

It is essential to relate Sphere Standards with local standards at the district level.

4.

Sphere practitioners most work towards the idea of imaginatively piloting the implementation of food security and nutrition standards.

5.

It is critical that guidance notes provide a link between disaster response and capacity building of local institutions so that they can act as a buffer for food security.

6.

Organisations must continue their support in revising Sphere as it is a work in progress with which realistic and not confrontational approaches are necessary.

7.
The link between food security and social safety net must be better understood and explored.
